One of my favourite parts of the Christmas holiday is creating time to sit down with a drink, put a film on in the background and spend a few hours building Lego (see also “I love lego”!) This year I was gifted the excellent Lego technic 42179 Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit!
I love the extra layer of complexity of technical lego - the gears, axles, and in this case a crank arm that I am hoping to convert to a motorised input, allowing the construction of functional models that move. Am currently thinking about a motor to turn the model in real time to reflect the current relationship between the Sun, Earth and Moon.
Next step might be to add Venus…
